Drug class: Penicillins, Amino

• A moderate-spectrum bacteriolytic, B-lactam antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections.
• Potent against a range of bacteria including H. influenzae, N. gonorrhoea, E. coli, Pneumococci, Streptococci, and certain strains of Staphylococci.

• As effective & safe as amoxicillin/clavulanate in the treatment of acute exacerbations of COPD. 

• As efficacious as Azithromycin in the treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
