• An oral third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to  treat a wide variety of bacterial infections
• A bactericidal that acts by inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis; Inhibits mucopeptide synthesis in bacterial cell wall.
• Exhibits potent, broad-spectrum activity against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria [including antistaphylococcal activity].
•  Highly stable in the presence of b-lactamase enzyme and is thus more effective against gram-positive bacteria than other 3rd generation oral Cephalosporins.
• Used as a step-down therapy in community-acquired pneumonia
